This is where I Belong….

Sometimes you have to go back to where you came from to know you are now where you belong!  This past week Steve and I made a road trip back to Southeast Coastal Georgia to check on our home and dip our toes in the ocean water of the island we called home seven months ago.  After living there for almost seven years – I didn’t think I would ever be happy some place else.  For several days we enjoyed the sand, the salty air, the ocean breeze and throwing our sandy flip flops and beach towels and chairs in our vehicle – knowing I would be vacuming sand out for weeks.  As we were driving off the island with the salty taste still on my lips – I looked at Steve and said – “Are you ready to go HOME?”  I had enjoyed my beach time – but was ready to head NW – back to the mountains I now call HOME.  The above photo was taken the morning after we got back – atop Mount Alto – the view from our home!

I can so relate to this … except we haven’t returned “home” yet. Western Montana is “home” and my daughter and I spent two weeks there last month where I remembered, from deep memory, how important the area is to me. I called the hubby and asked about retiring back where we met, where it all started for us. He said: “Sure.” So I’m counting down for the next 9 years!! We will be leaving children and grandchildren behind here in the heart of urban/suburban Texas, but they will always have a fabulous place to come and spend a care-free summer. :o)ReplyCancel

Hi Hilary ~ Thanks for stopping by and sharing your “home” moment. I hope the next nine years go by quickly and you can return and start new memories in the place you love.ReplyCancel
