Waiting is the name of the game!

WAITING…..waiting on Irene to skirt right past us while she churns up high and rough surf with breakers of 8 to 12 feet through Friday, rip currents and wind gusts of 45mph – before she moves on up the east coast.  We have been here five years and so far so good – but you never know.  Can’t wait to get out tomorrow and get some photos!  Need to check the tide schedule as we should be about 2 feet above normal – which means my favorite place to go will be underwater during high tide.

I have been editing photos and doing product mock-ups - I think I could actually do the mock-ups in my sleep now – if I were getting much of that.  My mind is spinning with information overload when I shut my eyes!  Art Licensing is not something you just say – I think I will license my art, photography or whatever and you are given a magic wand and sit back while things happen.  You are in constant movement – researching manufacturers to see who might be a good fit, making contact, then follow ups and doing product mock-ups so they can envision your work on their products.  Then comes the contracts and negotiations and deals back and forth and then you WAIT….wait to hear from your contacts, wait to see which images they want to use, wait for the negotiations to be complete, wait wait wait.

But waiting can be a good thing – like this week – a company contacted me asking for an extension of their access to my complete portfolio – and I would be hearing back from them as to which images they would like to use for their products.

Have you heard - The Pulse of Mixed Media by Seth Apter is to be released by North Light Books on 3/2/12, – and I am very excited to share that I was chosen by Seth for inclusion in the book.  To learn more about Seth and his upcoming book - drop by his blog, The Altered Page.

Until next time…..
